Have you been the support system to a spouse? The one that was with them when they had nothing, helped them build a dream and get where they (and you) are today?
It is said that “behind every great man is a great woman “and “behind every great woman is herself”. It is also said “that a man is not a financial plan”.
The movie DUMB MONEY truly exemplifies these expressions through its lead female characters, particularly in the roles of actresses America Ferrera (who plays Jenny) and Shailene Woodley (who plays Caroline Gill).
Both watched, waited, encouraged, and contributed to their partners success - working jobs, raising kids, managing the family finances, and holding the fort down. In the middle of the Pandemic in this David vs. Goliath tale about everyday people who flipped the script on Wall Street to become rich by turning GameStop (the video game store) into the world’s hottest company, their lives & attitudes quickly changed.
What was their influence? How did they cope with the responsibilities, relationship dynamics, and new-found wealth, especially when the chips were down? How have other women like Martha Stewart been instrumental in achieving independence, making money, and taking on Wall Street? And what can we learn from them?
