Teaser-See Kim Roberts in Stratford's 'Get That Hope' By Sept. 28th, Win Our 1000 Island Giveaway, Electrifying Smiles, 'Swinging' Mormon Wives, And More!
Canadian Actress Kim Roberts's lengthy career encompasses over 200 stage, film, television and voice credits. Notable appearances include Paw Patrol, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Strain, Schitt’s Creek, and The Sinner.
Until September 28th, she’s now appearing in Stratford, ON at The Studio Theatre at The Stratford Festival as “Margaret Whyte” in the play ‘Get That Hope’.
It’s Jamaican Independence Day. Richard Whyte is determined to celebrate it in style. The rice is soaking, the ginger beer is cooling and today his lottery ticket is finally going to hit it big! But Richard’s squabbling family have other ideas, and over the course of a single sweltering day in Toronto’s Little Jamaica, a lifetime of buried secrets and dreams finally come to light.
‘Get That Hope’ is a bittersweet drama of personal and cultural diasporas that brims with laughter and tears. It’s relevant to people of all heritages.
In this interview , Kim and I discuss what drew her to the character of “Margaret Whyte”, how she relates to her and wants women in the audience to see themselves in her.
We also talk about how the play blends themes of cultural & personal diasporas that are reflected in Kim’s own life and how those themes affect women differently than men…How the female characters contribute the family dynamics and the overall story, how culture & nationality intertwine, and lots more!
