Terri Runnels, Women and Wrestling
In this #Janette’s TV episode, Janette catches-up with former makeup artist and newscaster turned retired professional wrestling manager, television host and occasional professional World Champion Wrestling (WCW) wrestler, Miss Alexandra York, Terri Runnels. Terri was the manager of The York Foundation. Later she joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), renamed World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) where for 8 years she worked alongside her then husband Dustin Runnels (known on-screen as Goldust). She was also a member of the Pretty Mean Sisters Alliance. Janette caught-up with Terri at Hamilton Comic-Con to talk to her about the highs and lows of being a woman in wrestling, what it was like to hold the Hardcore Championship title, how she was able to balance being a wife and mother while managing her husband’s, The Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian’s careers, some of the fears she faced, including her on-screen rivalry with The Kat and how she overcame them. And what life was like after leaving the world of wrestling behind to focus on her philanthropic work. Please leave your comments in the feed below and share us with all the amazing women and smart men in your lives. And please hit the #BELL to be notified of all our upcoming episodes. Thank you!
